I’m attacking the Walk to Defeat MND 2025 BUT…I’m going to do it on another track, this year I am walking around Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Way back in 1997, Sue and I attended the World Superbike races at this venue, a year later we came back on our honeymoon. Since 2011 it has been the site of a mostly annual reunion with my brothers, with Sue joining in the fun every year regardless of rain, hail, sun and wind (often all at once). Due to Sue’s advancing MND this will probably be the last time we go together to Phillip Island, and she is continuing to fight incredibly hard to make it onto the back of the motor bike for one more trip to the island this year. On Friday October 17 I will walk around the outside of the track to raise money to fund the important work of MND Tasmania to continue to support people living with MND in Tasmania. Why did I choose to raise $4,445 as my target, this is the circuit length and more than five times the average 27 month life expectancy for someone with MND.

$5,000 raised to support people living with MND. MND weakens muscles, making balance and movement a daily struggle. For Sue, even mounting a motorbike is a huge challenge. Constant fatigue feels like a phone stuck at 10% battery, every task drains her. Her dream to ride to Phillip Island one last time keeps her going. Here's Sue’s support team from the 2023 MotoGP weekend, early in her journey when she could still walk 5km.
GREAT NEWS! This morning, we reached $4,770 raised for ongoing MND care. A massive thank you to everyone who donated, I owe you all a coffee! The countdown is on: we have 10 days left to raise more funds. Remember, until a cure arrives, your donations directly support essential care. Every cent matters! Engines roaring, hips shaking, Phillip Island WSBK 2017 was part race, part disco
Sue and I are filled with gratitude! Thanks to your amazing support, we've hit 99% of our $4,445 goal in just one week. Your donations are vital because they directly fund the ongoing care for people living with MND. This morning's rainbow was a reminder of hope. For someone living with MND, hope is often focused on the care they receive, as there is currently no cure. Let's cross the finish line! If you haven't donated, please consider it—every dollar provides essential care.
$4,000 RAISED for MND! Thank you to every single person who has donated—your support is truly incredible. We are now within sight of our final goal of $4,445, and we need your help to get us across the finish line and make a difference for someone living with Motor Neurone Disease. 2022 was the year of the comeback after COVID, battling the "big wet." Resulting in cancelled Spirit of Tasmania sailings, scrambling for last-second flights & hire cars, and fighting through mud & shuttle bus chaos

$3,500 raised — nearly 80% of my $4,445 goal! Huge thanks to everyone supporting care for people living with MND. This memory from MotoGP 2011 at Phillip Island’s Siberia Corner reminds me how tough temperature regulation can be for those with MND — simple tasks can swing them from cold to overheating, with fatigue always close behind. Every donation makes a difference. If you haven’t yet, please consider contributing to help improve care and comfort for people like Sue. 💙
A huge thank you to everyone who’s donated so far — we’ve raised an incredible $3,000! That’s a brilliant effort, but there’s still time to help me reach my goal of $4,445. If you’ve got a bit of spare coffee money, MND Tasmania can put it to great use supporting people living with Motor Neurone Disease. Here’s a favourite photo from the 2011 MotoGP weekend — a real family effort! Sue and I are riding The Mistress back to San Remo after a day at the track, I have a framed copy in my office

Thank you for your support so far. I promised something when we passed $2000 - because until there's a cure, there's care. This photo show 28 years of our journey together, this photo was taken on our honeymoon in 1998 at the World Superbikes race, where Sue met Troy Corser. Unfortunately, he didn't sign her replica helmet that day. Last year, we met him again in the same spot, and the helmet remains unsigned, proudly displayed in our living room, the photo from 2024 is on my social media
$2,500 raised so far, thank you all so much for your generosity Here's a rare memory from the 2015 WSBK weekend, hot weather at Phillip Island. We had to seek shade from the heat, not the cold and rain, very rare. The whole trip was enhanced by us coming home via Tin Can Bay in Queensland, extending the weekend by a little

Thank you for your generous donations we've hit $1500 so here's me with my 1997 WSBK program featuring Aaron Slight #111, Simon Crafer #6, Colin Edwards #45 and Carl Fogarty #1 The next memory is really special and I'm going to share it at $1,965 being the number of days combined that Sue's mum Barbara lived post diagnosis and since Sue's diagnosis on Sunday 19 October. I am really grateful for your ongoing generosity
Thank you everyone, we've cracked $1k so I owe you another This memory is a favourite from 2012 MotoGP when my little brother Peter decided to be arty on Cape Patterson Road, Inverloch on the morning run to the track
Thank you so much, I haven't even had time to remove the dust covers off the Delorean let alone go out to the trash to fuel up Mr Fusion. As promised this is MotoGP 2011 at Doohan bend, lazing in the sun with Sue
To keep it interesting, for every $500 raised I'll fire up the Delorean and find photos of why this year is BIG for me
