Sean Dorney's journey with Motor Neurone Disease

Sean Dorney left the ABC in 2014 after 40 years of award-winning reporting from the Pacific region.

He's facing a new challenge now — Sean has been recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

It's a disease which can strike anybody at any time regardless of age or health, attacking the central nervous system and gradually wasting away nerve cells and muscles.

Famous sufferers include the brilliant scientist Stephen Hawking.

Sean Dorney wants to use his experience and profile to raise awareness of the disease.
